Brian Leeper
Class of 1985
Brian Leeper, NATS North Central Region Governor
Brian Leeper, MM-Voice Performance '85 has been elected to a two-year term as North Central Region Governor of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). Brian will represent the districts of Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Dakotas, Manitoba and Saskatchewan on the National NATS Board.

Diesel graduated from UNL with a M.A. in Biological Anthropology, with a minor in Natural Resource Sciences - Forensic Science. He currently works for the State of Illinois - Department of Human Services as a Clinical Laboratory Technician II since 2019.

I attended UNL in 1976 for an Engineering Degree with a Computer Science Major. I used my VA benefits, things were looking good. Then my employer changed my work schedule from nights to days and I had to withdraw.

Steven "Steve" Meints
Class of 1993
NU Alumni graduate from Army War College
Lieutenant Colonel Steve Meints (UNL 1993) and Colonel Steve Padilla (UNL 1995) graduated from the US Army War College on July 28, 2023 at Carlisle Barracks, PA with Master Degrees in Strategic Studies. Both NU alumni serve in the Army Reserve. Army Strong and Go B1G Red!
Nancy Gillpatrick (Ringer)

It was the fall of 1972 and the season opening football game for the Huskers. I was one of the first five females allowed in the Big Red Marching Band thanks to Title IX. No words can describe the emotions I had that day walking out onto the turf at Memorial Stadium surrounded by 85,000+ Husker fans. It was really difficult to concentrate on playing my trumpet and marching.
Timothy "Tim" Matas
Class of 2008
Stratton, DeLay, Doele, Carlson, Buettner & Stover, P.C. L.L.O. is pleased to announce the addition of Tim Matas to their firm. With a career spanning over a decade Matas has been the Platte County Public Defender for the last 14 years, where he has defended clients in all manner of cases from simple misdemeanors to complex felonies. Matas has also represented juveniles in juvenile court, as well as individuals who have been subjected to mental health board commitments. Matas also has experience in the civil sector handling domestic matters and civil contempt proceedings. In addition to continuing to represent citizens in the criminal court, Matas is looking forward to expanding his service to the community in the areas of family law, estate planning, and civil litigation.
Matas is an active member of the Nebraska State Bar Association, serving on several committees and the House of Delegates since 2015. He is also an active member of the Nebraska Criminal Defense Attorney’s Association and has been on the board of directors since 2017. Matas is also a past member of the Judicial Nominating Committee for the 5th Judicial District. Doug Stratton, the firm’s senior partner, said of Matas, “We are thrilled to have Tim join our firm and bring with him his vast experience in criminal defense, along with a level of compassion every client will come to appreciate.”
Matas and his wife Tracy live in Columbus where they raise their children. They are active members of Peace Lutheran Church where Matas directs the adult and children’s choirs. Stratton, DeLay, Doele, Carlson, Buettner & Stover have offices in Norfolk and Columbus. Matas will work primarily from their Columbus office, but his practice will be statewide.

I will be speaking throughout Nebraska in April along with the publication of my first book, THE ELK IN THE GLADE, about my great grandmother's life as a pioneer and painter. Michael Kistler was promoted to Director of Accounting at Amazon in Oct 2022 where he is the Controller for 50+ entities covering all Amazon’s businesses in 15 APAC countries and leader for global project organization that is enhancing compliance through improved infrastructure, standardization, and automation with a multi-layered global team based in 10 countries across, APAC, EMEA, and the Americas.
Christina O'Keefe (Knapp)

Christina O’Keefe is the Director of Sustainability North America at Kerry, a global partner to the food & beverage industry focused on inspiring food and nourishing life. With extensive manufacturing experience within the food and beverage industry, Christina has a passion about building a food system for the future by minimizing environmental impact, improving lives, while also identifying opportunities to optimize the bottom line. Together with her peers, Christina is driving Kerry North America towards our shared global ambition to reach 2 billion people with sustainable nutrition solutions by 2030. Christina holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Carrie Ann "Carrie" Clancy (Moritz)
Class of 2000
Carrie Moritz Clancy (c/o 2000, 2002) received her Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Arizona in May 2022. She is currently employed as an Audiologist at Valley ENT, PC in Tucson, AZ, where she specializes in diagnostic audiology, hearing aid fitting, and aural rehabilitation.

Iona Michaelis (Riesselman)
Class of 1971
Iona (Onie) Michaelis passed away from vulvar cancer on December 12, 2021 at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point, NE surrounded by her four children. She was born and raised in Butte and a 1971 graduate of UNL Teacher College. Iona taught secondary English, Speech, Literature, & Drama for 25 years in Scribner and 15 years in West Point before retiring in 2014. She is survived by her four children, three grandchildren, and two brothers.

Noah Weiss (BS 2009) will be married to Samantha Jo Buettner on Feburary 20, 2022. The couple currently resides in Lincoln.
Kenneth "Ken" Kirchhoff

My last year at the Police Department
Retired after 43 year career in Law Enforcement in Nebraska and Colorado.
I spent 17 years in SWAT, senior hostage/crisis negotiator, and am a graduate of the FBI Tactical and Negotiations Command School.
We live in Fort Collins where I worked for 39 years but still call Nebraska our home.
We have two granddaughters attending UNL currently. Go Big Red!
