To increase connections between our multicultural alumni, academic faculty and the current student body, the Chancellor's Commission on the Status of People of Color, the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center (JGMC) and the Nebraska Alumni Association extend an invitation to all alumni to participate in a few special events during the 2022 Homecoming Weekend.
Schedule (subject to change) Thursday, Sept. 29 | Wick Alumni Center, 1520 R Street 5 - 7 p.m.: Multicultural Social Join the Chancellor’s Commission on the Status of People of Color as we recognize distinguished alumni from the university’s nine colleges. A networking social will immediately follow the formal program. Registration is required. Alumni, faculty, staff, students and members of the Husker community are welcome to attend this free event. Appetizers and refreshments will be served and casual attire is recommended. This event is co-sponsored by the Nebraska Alumni Association and the Alumni of Color Network. This is an in-person event. Friday, Sept. 30 | Wick Alumni Center Noon - 2 p.m.: Wick Alumni Center (1520 R St.) You are invited to celebrate the 2022 alumni inductees into the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center Hall of Fame. Free lunch is provided, and registration is required. Opportunities to connect with the inductees will follow the formal program. Alumni, faculty, staff, students and members of the Husker community are welcome to attend this free event. The suggested attire is business causal. This event is co-sponsored by the Nebraska Alumni Association and the Alumni of Color Network, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and the Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services (OASIS). 6 p.m.: Homecoming Parade and Cornstock Festival Cornstock is a free, family-friendly event that offers a memorable evening for Husker fans of all ages. Festival activities will include performances by parade participants, live music, food trucks, games for adults and children, the student Jester competition and more! There is something for everyone to get in the Nebraska spirit before the Huskers take on Indiana. 7 - 9 p.m.: Multicultural Homecoming Cocktail Mixer | Wick Alumni Center (1520 R St.) Join us for a complimentary refreshing cocktail while connecting and catching up with fellow alumni after the homecoming parade. Non-alcoholic beverages and appetizers will also be served. Alumni, faculty, staff and members of the Husker community (21+) are welcome to attend this free event. The suggested attire is causal. This event is co-sponsored by the Nebraska Alumni Association and the Alumni of Color Network. This is an in-person event. Saturday, Oct. 1 | The Campus Green/Nebraska Union Plaza Two hours before kickoff: Tailgate You are invited to connect with friends, alumni, and students before the Nebraska Huskers take on the Indiana Hoosiers. Free food and non-alcoholic beverages are provided. Alumni, faculty, staff and members of the Husker community are welcome to attend this free event. The suggested attire is causal.
